'In
From The Cold' concert
to benefit youth shelter
Wednesday, December 8, 2004 - Roderick
Benns
A fundraiser concert for the Youth Emergency Shelter is expected
to break previous records, raising up to $6,000, according to a
key sponsor of the event, Jeannine Taylor.
Taylor owns Quid Novis
Productions, an Internet production, marketing and consulting
services company. She says the cause is easy to get behind.
"In addition to this being a great concert
and a huge effort by many, many talented volunteers, we like to
sponsor this event because every penny goes to the Peterborough
Youth Emergency Shelter," explains Taylor.
"We (Quid Novis) decided to make homelessness
our primary cause about five years ago," she says.
The concert is known annually as 'In from the
Cold,' and features an array of talent. This year's show features
music by Carried Away, Enrique Roy Claveer and the Convivio Chorus.
The concert will run on two nights at the Market Hall Theatre
- Dec. 9 and 10 at 7:30 p.m.
"We also volunteer to help find additional
sponsors, but our part is small compared to the musicians and
organizers who put in many hours with rehearsals and planning,"
notes Taylor.
This is the first year that a second concert
evening has been added, says Taylor, with 300 tickets available
per evening.
"There are virtually no tickets given away
-- even the choir and performers buy tickets. So, we're hoping
for around $6,000 in ticket sales," she says.
Taylor notes the sponsorships are building each
year, calling this gratifying to know the support is out there,
she says.
Last year the concert sold out two weeks in
advance.
