Riding
through the riding with Wood
Friday, June 25, 2004 - Roderick Benns
Green Party candidate Brent Wood has stuck to his word.
The Peterborough resident has said all along
he would get to every campaign appearance on his bike and he has.
Now he’s adding canvassing to the same pledge, Brent says.
It’s hard to name a place in the riding
Brent hasn’t visited on his bike – Douro, Bridgenorth,
Warsaw, etc.
It’s the final week of the federal election
campaign and Brent says he wants to make a point.
"I want to show how doable this is,"
he says.
"Anyone in cycling knows this. But a lot
of car drivers assume you have to drive everywhere."
Brent says he can draw attention to the Peterborough
area’s excellent trails. "They’re flat, there
are no cars around and you can take them six months out of the
year," says Brent.
The Green Party candidate doesn’t know
where he’ll end up this weekend. He just knows it will be
on two tires.
